Definition:

In the Black church, Christian education is a process of guiding believers towards spiritual maturity, understanding of the Bible, and internalization of Christian beliefs and practices. Within the unique context of Black Christian faith and history, it’s not just about Sunday school classes, but also encompasses the entire life of the church.  This includes testimony, worship, and preaching, all aimed at fostering a Christian worldview and discipleship.

The Christian Education Department of the 6th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is committed to equipping believers of all ages with biblical knowledge, spiritual formation, and discipleship training. Grounded in the AME Church’s mission to foster faith, wisdom, and service, our department provides resources, programs, and leadership development that empower individuals to grow in their relationship with Christ. Through Sunday School, Bible studies, leadership training, and youth engagement initiatives, we seek to cultivate a strong foundation of faith and a deeper understanding of God’s Word. Join us as we educate, equip, and inspire disciples for transformative ministry in the church and beyond!
