Mrs. Cordelia Daniel Mitchell is the proud Episcopal Supervisor of the 6th Episcopal District of the AME Church, which encompasses the state of Georgia. Her Episcopal leadership journey followed the election of her husband, Bishop Michael Mitchell, to the episcopacy in 2016. They were assigned to the 6th Episcopal District during the 52nd Quadrennial Session of the AME Church General Conference in 2024. Together, they previously dedicated eight transformative years to the 12th Episcopal District, serving Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Born in Cuthbert, Georgia, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Supervisor Cordelia is a lifelong member of the AME Church, embodying its values and mission. With a wealth of experience as a Human Resources executive in both the financial services and healthcare sectors, she excels in leadership development, executive coaching, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. After a successful tenure as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at EverBank, she founded CDM HR Consulting Services, where she made significant contributions to Shorter College in the 12th Episcopal District by establishing a robust HR infrastructure.
A proud graduate of Spelman College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Organizational Management, Supervisor Cordelia further honed her skills with a Leadership Development certificate from the Harvard Kennedy School. She is also a SHRM Senior Certified Professional and Executive Coach. Her commitment to excellence is reflected in her active involvement in numerous organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Links, Incorporated, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Spelman College National Alumni Association, and the NAACP. With over 35 years of diverse business experience, she is passionate about empowering nonprofits and small businesses in effective human resource management.
Guided by the profound principle found in Luke 12:48, “To whom much is given, much is required,” Supervisor Cordelia believes in paying it forward and is deeply dedicated to missions, volunteerism, and community service. She focuses on initiatives that uplift underserved and at-risk women and children, mentoring students, and offering workshops on social and business etiquette, career planning, and college readiness. Her work with the Women’s Missionary Society and other Women’s Ministries emphasizes the support and strengthening of clergy spouses and families.
In her role as Supervisor of Missions, she is committed to engaging young women in the Women’s Missionary Society at all levels. To foster leadership among the next generation, she established the Flossie Green - Anna Graham Leadership Academy in the 12th Episcopal District, and the Baxter-DeVeaux-Young Leadership Academy in the 6th District, empowering young women to step into their leadership potential.
Supervisor Cordelia and Bishop Mitchell are proud parents of two daughters, Courtney Ashley, and Channing Hodges (married to Robert, II). They cherish their role as grandparents to Robert Hodges III (R3), Campbell Alora (Cami), and Royce Jaxon (RJ). Together, they embody a legacy of leadership and service, inspiring others to embrace their calling and make a lasting impact in their communities, and most importantly, in kingdom building.
