Supervisor Cordelia Daniel Mitchell
Supervisor of the 6th Episcopal District
Mrs. Cordelia Daniel Mitchell is the Supervisor of the 6th Episcopal District (which comprises the state of Georgia) upon the assignment of her husband Bishop Michael Mitchell to the state at the 52nd Quadrennial Session of the AME Church General Conference in 2024. They served for eight years in the 12th Episcopal District (Arkansas and Oklahoma). She was born in Cuthbert, Georgia, but she was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and is a life-long member of the AME Church.
Supervisor Cordelia is a long-time Human Resources executive with experience in both the financial services and healthcare industries. Her areas of expertise includes leadership development and executive coaching, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Organizational Development and Talent Management. She left her corporate position as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at EverBank and started CDM Consulting Services, where she developed an HR infrastructure for Shorter College in the 12th Episcopal District.
Supervisor Cordelia graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Organizational Management. She holds a certificate in Leadership Development from the Harvard Kennedy School; and has certifications as a Senior Certified HR Professional and Executive Coach. She is active in many organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The LINKS, Incorporated, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Spelman College National Alumni Association, and the NAACP. Cordelia loves utilizing her more than 35 years of business experience helping non-profits and small businesses with human resource management expertise and counsel.
Supervisor Cordelia lives by the words found in Luke 12:48, “To whom much is given, much is required”. These words drive her passion for missions, volunteerism and giving back to her community, especially with projects related to under-served and at-risk women and children. She serves as a mentor to students and volunteers her time teaching social and business etiquette, career planning, and college readiness to students. Through her work with the Women’s Missionary Society and other Women’s Ministries she has worked extensively with women and young people, promoting health and education, and ministering to incarcerated women. One of her primary focus areas is supporting and strengthening clergy spouses and families. As the Supervisor of missions, she is intentional about bringing young women into the Women’s Missionary Society at all levels. To facilitate this effort, she developed the Flossie Green Anna Graham Leadership Academy to train and develop young women for leadership roles in the 12th Episcopal District. Supervisor Mitchell is currently the President of the Supervisors Council of the AME Church.
Supervisor Cordelia and Bishop Mitchell have two daughters, Courtney and Channing Hodges (Robert, II) and two grandchildren, Robert Hodges III, aka R3, and Campbell Alora, aka Cami.
